🌙 Moonlight Mischief: Under the October Moon on Rock Island Farm – An Overnight Women’s Experience

✨ Welcome

I want to begin by saying this: you belong here.

If this invitation has found its way to you, it’s because I believe there’s something waiting for you under the October moon — something you didn’t even know you needed.

This isn’t a retreat with a polished agenda or a conference with a long list of sessions. This is one night where we set aside the “shoulds,” circle up with women, and let ourselves be held by the land, the fire, the animals, and one another.

🌱 How It Came to Be

The idea for Moonlight Mischief has been stirring for years. Every circle I’ve sat in, every meal I’ve shared, every firepit I’ve leaned into reminded me: when women gather with intention, something shifts.

I wanted to create a space where we can learn simple, grounding skills that connect us back to the earth, and just as importantly, where we can lay down some of what we carry — the weight, the worry, the endless list of responsibilities — and trade them for laughter, stories, and mischief under the stars.

🎯 The Goal of the Weekend

My hope is simple: that you leave lighter than you came.
You’ll leave with memories stitched together from firelight and starlight, with a few new skills in your back pocket, with the joy of animals at your feet, and with a community of women who have walked this 24-hour journey alongside you.

This is not just about camping. This is about remembering yourself — in a way that will carry into whatever you’re going home to.

📍 What to Expect

  • When: Saturday, October 11 at 10:00 a.m. → Sunday, October 12 at 3:00 p.m.
Please arrive with enough time to settle in so we can begin right at 10:00 a.m. If it’s easier to arrive Friday night, let me know — I’ll make space for you.
  • Where: Rock Island Farm, 3172 Rock Island Rd, Scottsville, VA
  • Sleeping Arrangements: You’ll need a tent and sleeping bag, but this is not meant to be difficult. We can double up on tents, and if weather is bad, we’ll simply move inside. The point isn’t to prove anything — it’s to experience what Stacy, a former park ranger, will teach us about outdoor life skills.
  • Meals:
    • Saturday lunch will be catered.
    • Saturday dinner we’ll cook together, family-style.
    • Sunday will include a special shared meal + Favorite Things Exchange.
    • Coffee, tea, and pastries will be available all weekend.
    • Please bring snacks you love for yourself and one to share (no nuts).

🗓️ The Flow

  • Outdoor skills with Stacy Hafley former Virginia State Park Ranger— confidence, comfort, and know-how
  • Animal connection with Betsy Eves of Rock Island Farm — bunnies, chickens, dogs, and quiet joy
  • Lunch + Circle & readings with Jennifer Hryciw of PaintedGoddess from Seattle, WA — safe space for stories and intuition

Sunday

  • Sunrise grounding + yoga flow (optional)

Think simple treasures: your favorite water bottle sticker Ă—3, your favorite candle Ă—3, a crystal you swear by Ă—3, or the lip balm you can’t live without. The point is for it to be something you truly love. Be ready to share the story of why it matters to you. After we share, we’ll “go shopping” — each woman will get 3 tickets to trade for the items that call to her most.
  • Closing circle with Jennie
  • Teardown with Stacy — learning how to leave no trace
  • Group photos + farewell
  • 3:00 p.m. departure

🎒 What to Bring

  • Tent + sleeping bag (sharing is fine; inside backup plan available)
  • Sleeping pad/blanket/pillow for comfort
  • Warm layers for crisp October nights
  • Flashlight or headlamp
  • Journal + pen
  • Toiletries + personal items
  • Snacks for yourself + something to share (no nuts)
  • 3 identical Favorite Things ($5–10 each, max $30 total)
  • Any small comforts (scarf, mug, cozy socks)

✨ Closing Note

If you take nothing else from this page, know this: you don’t need to come prepared for anything but yourself. You don’t need the right words, the right outfit, or the right tent. You don’t need to carry all the answers.

All you need is to arrive. The rest we’ll create together, under the October moon.

See you then,
Betsy
